Fatal Printer Setup Error!?!

Ugh...  I am in an assistant, tech position in the residence hall of the University that I attend, and I loath setting up personal printers on our school provided laptops.  Most printers have no problem being set up.  However, for some unknown reason HP printers occasionally have a "Fatal Printer Setup Error!!"  There is an alternative method to try and set up the printer the only way to get the printer installed is to try repetitively until by chance it successfully installs.
